For Basketball the following wagers are available:
Everybody likes throwing a little money
on the game now and then, whether it be for the NBA finals or NCAA March
Madness, betting on the games makes them more exciting and almost every
basketball sportsbook has betting for the NBA and college NCAA
basketball. Sportsbooks usually require 43 minutes of play for action in
the NBA while for college basketball, 35 minutes is needed. The NBA runs
for most of the year with only a few months off, and this means you’ll
be able to find action almost everyday for eight months of the year. The
competition in the NBA is very competitive for the most part, and when
you add the point spread into the equation it makes it a lot more
difficult.
Betting on the basketball total score in the game is a whole different
bet all together than, who will win the game with the point spread.
Straight bets are the most commonly bet when it comes to sports
wagering. These are also called "sides" or "pick a team" and involve a
point spread which means that it pertains to football betting or
basketball betting.
Typically bettors will make bets on the point spread of a game which is
where a team needs to win by a certain amount of points. You can choose
to either take the favorite which is the team that needs to win or you
can take the underdog which is the team that can lose by a certain
amount. If the point spread is -10.5 and you take the underdog then your
team can lose by 10 points and you’ll still win.
Example basketball line:
|
Team |
Side |
Total |
Moneyline |
|
DETROIT Pistons |
+6.5-1.10 |
205ov-1.10 |
+2.50 |
| INDIANA Pacers |
-6.5-1.10 |
205un-1.10 |
-3.30 |
The home team is always displayed on the bottom line, therefore in this example the Indiana Pacers are the home team. Detroit Pistons are the underdog, illustrated by the fact that their Spread is a plus (+). If the final result, taking in to account any handicaps, is a tie (also known as a 'Push'), the bet is considered void and your stake is returned. This rule applies to all the following single US bets.
Basketball uses a 20 cent line.
